We value our parents. We appreciate you trusting the education of your son to Salesian High School. On this page, you’ll find everything you need to know about being a Salesian parent: from important dates you should mark on your calendar to the drop off and pick-up lanes. Thank you for being a part of our Salesian High School family.
Due to COVID-19, our academic calendar is currently on hold. As soon as possible, we will post an update academic calendar for the remainder of the school year. Please check our online Google calendar for scheduled events and reminders.
Safe Drop Off and Pick Up
In an effort to keep our students (your sons) safe, we request that all student drop off and pickups in the morning and afternoon take place in the school parking lot in the rear of the main school building. Please do not block the one-way driveway into the school. We also caution all parents that making a U-turn on Main Street is not only illegal; it is also very dangerous. Thank you for paying attention to this safety issue.
Technology at Salesian
Our goal at Salesian High School is to use technology in every aspect of school life, including technology projects in the classroom, communicating with parents and students through technology, and using resources like eBooks, eTextbooks, and online resources in the library.
Salesian High School provides students with two computer labs and a library media center (with a ratio of one computer for every six students). Salesian High’s library also provides eBooks and online databases for research. Access to these resources is 24/7, at home and at school. Students are not required to buy a laptop computer or tablet device to use at school.
Anywhere on campus, students also have access to the school’s Wi-Fi network, filtered according to the federal Children’s Internet Protection Act, or CIPA, requirements.
To access the school’s Wi-Fi network on a laptop or tablet, students must register the MAC (Mobile Access Control) address of their device with the technology department. The Wi-Fi network will only connect with devices with registered MAC addresses.
Students may bring tablet devices to school (with a minimum screen width of 7 inches diagonally). These devices can be used in the library and in classes (with a teacher’s permission) for research or eBook purposes. Research and eBook use can be carried out through a tablet’s browser (like Safari) or through apps like the OverDrive, Pearson, and Gale Research apps. All of these resources are available for iOS and Android tablets.
Laptop computers, though more cumbersome, may be used, especially if a student’s individual educational plan requires it. All students are welcome to bring laptop computers to school if they find their use convenient and beneficial. Laptop use on student desks can be difficult.
Not permitted at school is smart phone use during the school day. While school is in session, from 8 a.m. until 2:30 p.m., laptop computers and tablets may be used for educational purposes only.
Salesian High School assumes no responsibility for the loss, theft, or damage of students’ personal computing devices.
Private bus service to and from Salesian High School to the Bronx and Westchester is available at an additional cost. Students may also choose to take public transportation. Westchester BeeLine passes are available for purchase in the Business Office. For details on transportation, visit our Transportation page.
