Once again this spring, Salesian High School is offering an after-school activity every Wednesday called Code Club. Open to all students, this activity has students learn programming skills by creating computer games. Students use the Scratch web site, developed at MIT, and learn basic programming using a graphical interface of interlocking computer commands. Topics covered include event trapping, loops, and logical structures. Students have to complete ten assignments plus a final project and can earn credit toward their GPA. In the future, Salesian High School hopes to add more STEM courses, activities and clubs.
