January 27, 2021

Salesian Communications Team

Fr. Timothy Zak SDB, Provincial of the Salesians in the eastern United States and Canada, announced on January 26, several new leadership appointments for the province.

Please join us in congratulating Fr. John Serio SDB, on his new appointment within the Salesians of Don Bosco, Province of St. Philip the Apostle. While Father John anxiously awaits the specifics of his new role among the Salesians, we honor him for his tireless dedication to Salesian High School.

Father John has been president of our beloved school since 2013 and previously served as director-president from 1992 to 1998. He was also a teacher during the late 1970s.

Father John has been instrumental to the growth of Salesian High School, leading the school during some of the most challenging times. Most recently, Father John has ensured the safety of every Salesian student while navigating the school during a global pandemic.

His role in the growth of the school’s enrollment during the 1990s came at a time when Catholic schools across the country faced dire decreases in enrollment. Father John has been a servant leader to the Salesian family, leading with faith, compassion, and a steadfast commitment to the teachings and traditions of Don Bosco.

Father John leaves the school poised for a strong future after launching the largest capital campaign in the school’s 100-year history. His vision will inspire young men for years to come.

While we are sad to see the end of Father John’s tenure at Salesian High School, we are excited to support him in his next assignment. His accomplishments at Salesian are a testament to his servant leadership and the entire Salesian family is grateful for his support.
