Steeped in tradition
When a group of Salesians of St. John Bosco laid the cornerstone to their dream of a school on 17 acres overlooking Long Island Sound in New Rochelle, New York in 1920, Salesian High School was born. Salesian, to this day, embodies the rich educational tradition of St. John Bosco — a tradition based on reason, religion, kindness and the presence of educators among students. Our school is firmly rooted in the charism that “education is a matter of the heart” and strives to create a family spirit in a preventive system of education.
Our students enjoy the benefits of a quality academic program in a structured and supportive setting that prizes personalized attention. Whether in the classroom, in the gym, or at various extracurricular activities and events, Salesian’s dedicated faculty helps students develop their potential. Through personal and career counseling and quality academic instruction, our students are encouraged to strive toward academic excellence and to mature as productive and responsible Christian gentlemen.
Salesian High School was founded by and is owned and operated by the Salesian Society of St. John Bosco, Province of St. Philip the Apostle, part of an international community of consecrated religious brothers and priests. Founded by St. John Bosco, Salesian priests and brothers, sisters and lay colleagues employ Don Bosco’s principles as they evangelize and educate young people through the Eastern United States and Canada.
Salesian High School is an independent school within the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of New York accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. We maintain a policy of nondiscrimination of acceptance based on ethnic or religious background. All students, however, are expected to participate in the full religious curriculum program.
