Method #1: Using the Student Resource Center's Subject Guide Search.
 


On the Student Resource Center home page, click on the Subject Guide link (circled above)
on the Search Types ribbon at the top of the screen.
Next type in your search terms, like ancient Rome, shown above.
 


On the next screen, choose the link that includes the Subdivisions and Related subjects links,
for example, Rome (Ancient State)  (circled above)
.
 


The next screen is your Results Screen.
Click on the tabs to choose Reference Book articles, Magazine articles, Academic Journal articles, articles from Newspapers,
Creative Works (not available here), Primary Source articles (not available here), and Multimedia files,
like drawings, photographs, diagrams, art work, animations, music files, and video files.
 

You can also narrow your search by clicking on the Subdivisions link (circled above).
 

The next screen will provide you with articles on more specific topics,
like 11 articles on Buildings in ancient Rome.  Click on the link to see these articles.
 

If this search did not give you the results you wanted, you can click on the Related subjects link (circled above).
 

The next screen will provide you with articles on related topics,
like the Germanic Invasions of Rome.  Click on the link for more information.

Method #2: Using the Student Resource Center's Topic Tree for World History.
 

On the Student Resource Center home page, click on the Topic Trees link (circled above)
on the Search Types ribbon at the top of the screen.
 

Click on the World History button (circled above).
 


Choose and click on any link, for example, Italian Renaissance (circled above).
 


The next screen is your Results Screen.
Click on the tabs to choose Reference Book articles, Magazine articles, Academic Journal articles, articles from Newspapers,
Creative Works (not available here), Primary Source articles (not available here), and Multimedia files,
like drawings, photographs, diagrams, art work, animations, music files, and video files.

Method #2: Using the Student Resource Center's Topic Tree for Cultures.
 


On the Student Resource Center home page, click on the Topic Trees link (circled above)
on the Search Types ribbon at the top of the screen.
 


Click on the Cultures button (circled above).
 


Choose and click on any link, for example, Islamic culture (circled above).
 


The next screen is your Results Screen.
Click on the tabs to choose Reference Book articles, Magazine articles, Academic Journal articles, articles from Newspapers,
Creative Works (not available here), Primary Source articles (not available here), and Multimedia files,
like drawings, photographs, diagrams, art work, animations, music files, and video files.

Method #4: Using Facts on File's Ancient and Medieval History Online.
 

This easy-to-use database can be searched...
1. By typing a search term into the SEARCH box, shown circled in red above
 

2. You can Browse Biographies and click the links to...
Topic, like "Daily Life and Customs," and learn about Irukaptah, a royal chef of ancient Egypt
Highlighted People, like Popes, and learn about Calixtus, one of the first popes
Civilization, like Ancient Rome, and learn about Marcus Agrippa, Caesar Augustus' trusted adviser
 

In this same way you can Browse...
Events and Topics
    ...like the assassination of Julius Caesar
Primary Sources
    ...like the Code of Hammurabi
Timelines
Images and Videos
    ...like a video of the necropolis of Giza

Method #5: Using Facts on File's Modern World History Online.
 
 

For Global Studies II, Modern World History Online is excellent and also easy to use.
Search this database in the same way as Facts on File's Ancient and Medieval History Online.
 

You can type search terms into the SEARCH box or you can Browse...
Biographies
    ...like Adolf Hitler under  "Dictators and Tyrants"
Events and Topics
    ...like the Bolshevik revolution under "Rebellions and Revolutions"
Primary Sources
    ...like the 1945 Japanese Surrender Documents that ended World War II
Timelines
Images and Videos
    ...like a video of President John F. Kennedy declaring the naval blockade of Cuba
Maps and Charts
