|
On a plaque at the
right of the Entrance to our
school is an important quote from St.
John Bosco, "Education is a matter of the heart."
|
During the summer of
2005, the brick school building was pointed. Along with new
windows, the exterior of the building is like new.
|
 |

|
The Chapel is the heart of the school
and the home of the Master Teacher of Salesian High School. On
either side of the altar are newly dedicated statues of St. John Bosco and Don Bosco's
Madonna, Mary Help of Christians.

Opened in the Spring
of 2006, the new Salesian High School
Library and Conference Center is
dedicated to St. Luigi Versiglia, a Salesian missionary bishop martyred
in China in 1930. Bishop Versiglia was once assigned to Salesian
High School and dedicated the school's chapel in 1929. The
library's card catalog is fully automated and its holdings also
includes an
excellent collection of online
databases. The library space features 24 computers for
student
use. A projector screen can be lowered from the ceiling and
images and videos from a computer and VCR/DVD player can be shown.

Gilder
Lehrman Institute of American History Resource Room. This
computer lab is used for the Computer Architecture senior elective
class but is mostly available all day for teachers to use with their
classes.
|
Freshman
Computer Lab. This computer lab is used primarily for the
Freshman Computer Literacy and the Freshman Writing classes. Both
computer labs were moved and upgraded during the 2007 renovations. |

|

|
Two
new classrooms were
created for the 2006-2007 school year to make room for increased
enrollment. Both classrooms are equipped with Smart®
Boards.
Currently Freshman English and Freshman and Sophomore Global Studies
meet in
these rooms. Both teachers make extensive use of the Smart®
Board
technology.

As part of the summer of 2007
renovations, the Art Room was
moved and expanded. Shown at the back of the Art Room is the Mac
mini computer lab where students practice computer graphics skills.
|
The
Guidance Suite was
remodeled for the 2006-2007 school year. It includes offices for
the four guidance counselors, the guidance secretary, and computers for

The School Lobby, shown above
left, was refurbished for the 2006-2007 school year. Also
remodeled were the Administrative
Suites, shown above
right. On the walls of the
administrative suite are the school seal and a plaque dedicated to all
of the Salesian High School graduates who were awarded the Silver Eagle
medal at graduation. The Silver Eagle is the most prestigious
award a graduating senior can receive.

The
new Biology Lab for freshmen,
at right above, and the Chemistry Lab
for sophomores, left above, opened in September 2005. Carved out
of space that was once the residence for the Salesian priests and
brothers on staff, these labs both add needed classroom space and
give students the best equipment for science education. The Physics Lab, below left, was
renovated in early 2007. Shown below at right, the entire 4th Floor was renovated during the
summer of 2007. All of the classrooms were redone, lighting
replaced, and lockers repaired and painted. Two classrooms were
equipped with Smart® Boards, bringing the number of classrooms with
Smart®
Boards to 7.

| Gymnasium
and Fields |

|

|
The
Salesian High gym, or "Eagle's Nest,"
is home to many of the Salesian High championship teams, as well as the
stage of the Salesian Players
and the Salesian
High Band.
Our gym has also recently been the location for the filming of music
videos and TV commercials. Fallout Boy filmed a video in the
summer of 2005 with many Salesian High students as extras.
|

|

|
Behind
the gymnasium is the Pool and
Picnic Area.
Pictured above, the pool is drained and winterized, but the picnic area
still looks inviting.
|
The
Salesian High Baseball Field,
shared with Iona College, is at the eastern most section of the campus,
directly on the Long Island Sound.
